The Lovers

The sun and the stars. A sentimental painting, the first painting I attempted to create in order to keep it for myself and my home. This painting is incredibly intimate to me, as it represents the lovers- my tarot deck -, and how I see the complimentary exchange of energy and self that comes from a loving relationship. I took a lot of inspiration from my own relationship, there is a lot of my own love story inside this painting. The sun and the stars, the wire and the water, the hot and the cold. All of these themes have ran throughout my life. I’ve always been one to deal with two extreme sides of things, especially when it comes to emotions. It’s always 8 or 80, yes and also no. But aren’t we all like this when we allow ourselves to feel deeply and honestly? I’d like to think so. With all of this, there is also a deep connection with my ideal beliefs on relationships as a whole. The symbiosis of souls, Plato’s idea of soulmates where two bodies become one. Two separate bodies, different bodies, different perspectives, two ways of seeing the world joining together and becoming one. -Antonia x
