Window
"When I was little, my mother used to sing me a lullaby, it went something like "se essa rua, se essa rua fosse minha, eu mandava eu mandava ladrilhar" essentially is about decorating a street for your loved one to walk by. It’s probably one of the most beautiful songs I have ever heard, or ever will hear. There’s something incredibly soothing about the lyrics and rhythm, but mostly, it’s the memory of it that holds this little song in a special place for me.
When I decided to create a show around the theme of dreams, I knew I wanted one painting to pay homage to the music that put me to sleep for years. This painting is a very loose interpretation of that. Visually, it has nothing to do with the song; it feels more like a method of transportation—from this realm into the realm of dreamlike, decorated streets where angels live—a small window.
The simplicity of this piece brings me a lot of peace. What does the window to your dreams look like?"
